Shaki builds her new ‘Empire’

Shakira has toned it down a bit in “Empire,” the second single off her proclaimed upcoming self-titled album in March 25.
The sexy Colombiana has changed the mood since her fiery, sensual and bombastic first single with Rihanna in “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” and ironically enough, we can’t remember to forget the steamy controversial video that accompanies the upbeat hit.
Nonetheless, Shaki did not hesitate to give fans another preview of what to expect in her anticipated album.
Shakira releases Empire, her new song.

“Listen to a new song, #Empire, from Shakira’s new self-titled album (out March 25)!,” she posted on her Twitter account on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

This time around, the “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress brought it down a notch from the rock-reggae flavor to a 90′s alternative wild child fused with eclectic acoustics.
The four-minute song starts off with a piano solo and Shaki’s impeccable voice saying: “Take off all your skin and brave when you are free.”
In this rock-edged track with empowering lyrics we can sense some great nineties influences like Alanis Morrissette, Fiona Apple and even some Gustavo Cerati, front man of Argentine iconic band, Soda Stereo.
In a recent interview with Miami radio host, Enrique Santos, Shakira said her new album is the best one yet because it’s the album she worked on during her pregnancy and the first she releases after the birth of Milan.
Shakira also said the album includes songs dedicated to her media naranja, Pique, and to Milan.
With no further due, listen to Shakira’s latest single, “Empire.”
