Given that the Spirit Awards happen in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica, the watchword seems to be “fresh,” as all of our lovely ladies kept it simple on the day before the ultra-glam Oscars.

The Fault In Our Stars lead Shailene Woodley looked naturally beautiful on the carpet, opting for nude gloss and a light peachy blush. Big lashes brought out her gorgeous hazel eyes, and we just love her slightly ombre pixie cut! Four for you, Shailene.

Our girl Lupita Nyong’o went with a gold eyeshadow to pair with her metallic gold romper and her skin, of course, looked as flawless as it ever does. We loved her hair, too — with so little to work with, she manages to get so many great looks out of it! Remember the filled-in widow’s peak she rocked at the Critics’ Choice Awards?

Anna Kendrick totally killed it — her wavy side ponytail was the perfect casual look, and her ombre color was pronounced in the wispy bangs she left out of the ponytail to frame her face. Big, thick lashes framed her bright eyes and a rosy pink lip went perfectly with her ivory skintone! Just gorgeous!

Another star who always looks great in back-to-basic beauty looks is Reese Witherspoon, looking super pretty with a teased, messy updo. Like Anna, she kept the focus on her bright eyes with some bold black liner and lashes and a minimal pink lip with a peachy bronze blush.

Honorable mention: Jared Leto. He looked beautiful, okay? And as genetically blessed as he is, we KNOW that some intense hair care is going into that routine. We will die on this hill: Jared Leto for best beauty, hands down.
